The “Mega-Asia” perspective represents a new way of understanding, analyzing, and imagining Asia. As a concept, “Mega-Asia” can be regarded as the process or result of Asia’s composite parts, each featuring distinctive spatial and temporal identities, interacting to form new regional orders or phenomena. As a methodology, “Mega-Asia” involves the adoption of a multi-scalar unit of analysis, the application of a comparative method to regional studies, and the utilization of a wide spectrum of data for data-driven research. Finally, as a way of imagining Asia, “Mega-Asia” aims to provide a common ideological basis that may facilitate collective responses towards the various issues facing its Asia’s sub-regions and countries.
